Summer on the prairies wouldn't be the same without these cute wee finches. At certain times you'd imagine that the lady finches must be over-run with options.... except that the fledglings, although smaller, have the same gorgeous plumage as their daddies. I love these sunny birds!

Day 2 of my 30 paintings in 30 days. This gorgeous Peacock strutted about as though the entire Calgary zoo was his to command. It's hard not to take him seriously when he is so stern looking! The clear blues and greens and the pattern in his huge tail are one of natures most gorgeous displays. This acrylic painting is on a 12"x12" cradled birch panel. Enjoy! I found myself in a bit of a painting slump last month. In an effort to jump-start my painting year I've committed to my very first 30 in 30. What's that? I'll be joining a group of artists and painting one [small] painting per day beginning today and finishing up March 2. It's a big commitment but it will push me in a couple of important ways:
